The weather is good and the people are on the whole kind.
The gun laws are a lot better than NYC, the place I came from.

We have the power to block any new programs by the progressives but we lack the power to repeal, Mr. Obama would veto that.
So what can we do?
Well we could "go along to get along" reach across in the hope of reason and compromise and it would be good to do so IF it can be done with honor.
If the left is willing to:
Reduce the size of Government
close the border
leave the UN
Leave NATO
Pass new tariffs
wage no wars except for the national honor and wage those with our full might and for total victory.

We could support a program that issued a green card to those who:
Have not committed any crimes and have a job.
But that employer would have to pay them the lawful wage and benefits.
We could support a jobs program that built something useful that is how we got the TVA under FDR.
We could support a national sales tax with a limit of 5% with no loop holes in place of the Income Tax.

But ANY program that or project that violates our core values must be rejected.
We did not win the election only to replace Dem progressives with GOP Progressives.

Fellas. I have been going to the Inland Fish and Game range for over 20 years.

During the last wave of "Improvement" developers built a school and home developments, in what had been desert.

"Can't have people shooting, the noise..the Guns...the environment..the children"

We got the Axe.

There is another range back in the hills but the only good one left is at Prado 2 hours away!!!!!!!!!

That is it for me, the value of the house dropped from 325 to 150...Two years and I am heading South.

I will be the guy at the range saying " y'all come back"..in a Brooklyn accent.

This was once a good state and compared to New York, freedom hall, now..I may as well be back in Manhattan.

At least the Pizza and bread was good and there were lots of book stores and museums.

Without a range this place is a wasteland.

The basic problem with universal suffrage is that sooner or later the people learn that they can VOTE for goodies (programs) from the public purse and get them.

Look at the history of Athens or Rome.

Human nature being what it is, the practice sooner or later kills the body politic.
That is why our Constitution forbade income tax and the states required that one own property or pay a poll tax to vote.( Poll tax had nothing to do with race, despite what soon newer "Social Studies" books say)

The federal government, you see, ran itself, on import duties, the sale of public lands, or to a small degree bonds. In the states tax was based mostly on land owner ship.

So the idea was, if only land owners would be taxed only landowners should vote on tax.

Once the "progressives' reformed that the nation was in deep trouble.

As the Romans learned to their cost, once that illness affects the state, it may be contained, but it is never cured.

Still, there was a time when our fathers would have struck a person offering them a "handout".

Our generation believed that it was cool to "rip off the system" You see what our nation has sunk to??

Without that pride.. the pride of the freeman, we all line up with out hands out and so falls the republic.

Back in 1975, I think, a very very smart History prof of mine pointed out that historically the Upper class does not pay tax and the lower class cannot, so all government is financed by tribute of the conquered or by the middle class.

The contradiction of course, it that the upper class hates and fears the middle class as rivals who seek their, the upper classes, social position and power and so act to weaken the middle, or what was called the yeoman class.

In our time, this is done by taxing the middle class to "provide social benefits to the less fortunate".

The truly "Upper class" don't pay tax, they have "loopholes" and foundations.

As far as "Nationalism" ,among the "elites" that concept is as dead as a dinosaur.

The "best and brightest" have long seen themselves as "citizens of the world.

So, if I can make a larger profit by moving the old family factory to China, that is just too bad for the plebs in Brooklyn.

Think of the "Good" I am doing by "Giving hope and jobs" to the people of China...

I am building bridges to world peace..and making a buck.

The man is the original rino.As for his being a POW, that is not his fault, through father would not have agreed, his generation looked down on POWs, they were a like the japs in that regard.

Still one has to ask:

How does being a pow of the commies for 5 years prepare a man to be President?

The Elections

I recall watching Bush the elder and Bill Clinton on TV together and it was all "hail fellow well met".

It got me to thinking.

Now if you said the things about me or I of you that those politicians said of each other, it would be "pistols at dawn, sir".

Yet. as soon as the elections are over, it is "see you at the club old fella" with pols.

I am starting to wonder:

Is the whole political system a game that the political patricians play for kicks?

I know they seem to take it seriously, but folks take Football seriously as well!

People have a short memory and that may be a good thing in some cases.

If we recalled all the girls who said " no".

We would never have found the one who said "yes" when we asked her out for coffee.

If we recalled all the close calls on the road, we would never drive.

BUT ....if we forgot that hot water burns or the red light means "stop" we would have a very short life.

It has been 7 years since 9/ 11.

The yellow ribbons are gone and the left is back with a roar.

Yet, as we just saw in India, the murderous Islamic maggots are still out there.

Folks, the only reason ..the ONLY reason.. those sobs and not carrying jihad to a mall or school or hotel near YOU is some grunt with a rifle keeping them at bay.

The people were SOLD on the idea that the government should pay for them by evil people, using the weakness of men as a means to power.

Our fathers would NEVER have taken money with out working for it.

The work may have been shoveling s^%T, but they would have worked and hit any man who said different.

Back in 1970 there was a welfare office by the collage I was going to and I recall the "caseworkers", out in the street, like fellas in Oceanside pushing cheap jewelry, talking students into the office " to get their money".

Something changed in this nation in the 60s and not for the better.

We had best change it back.
